From what I reckon, this is the family of the basic ancestor-type. John is a labourer, probably born around 1796ish, who moves from Malton / Norton to the Brick and Tile Works at Ganthorpe (in the parish of Terrington), and then moves on to Falsgrave, taking most of his family with him. In 1851 he was working in the Patent Marble works in Falsgrave, then in the Brickyard, living at no. 3 Barry's Cottages. This is the house that Henry Howes and his wife Jane - John's granddaughter - would be living in in 1881.
The Brick and Tile works in Ganthorpe is still there on the 1851 census - but a transcript of the entries shows that only one of the 23 households there was actively involved in the trade. Many of the rest are annuitants or dependents of some kind. The 1856 Ordnance Survey map - available from the old-maps web site - still shows the works, but it is no longer there on modern maps. The remaining family (George Horseman and his family) had moved to Falsgrave by 1861.
Sarah, at the top, is the mother of Jane (see below), who married Henry Howes, the elder . George followed his Father into the Brick and Tile Works and ended up as manager of the brickworks in Falsgrave..
Thomas, Alice and John all moved to Falsgrave with their parents before 1851, and George and his family followed them there by 1861.
Thomas married Rachel Walker in Scarborough in 1858 and had a bunch of kids, John married Sarah Dodworth in Scarborough in 1864 and also had a family.
In the 1851 and 1861 censuses, John and Hannah have a Grandson with them in Falsgrave called William Horsman. He was born around 1841 in Driffield. I don't know who his parents were.
John died (in all probability) on 15 December 1866, and Hannah died on 19 Nov 1868.

These are the children of 'loose women' - single parents ahead of their time!
Jane was born on 23 August 1840. Her father was John Colley - he is included on her birth certificate, unusually, but it is clear that he was not married to Sarah. In 1840, when Jane was born, John Colley was a Tilemaker in the Brick and Tile Works at Ganthorpe. When she married Henry Howes in York in 1863, he is listed on the marriage certificate as a 'Book keeper'.
Sarah - Jane's mother - married George Waud of Bishopthorpe, the son of Mark Waud and Jane Shepherd. Jane was brought up as Jane Waud - this is how she appears in the 1851 census in Bishopthorpe, and what she puts as her maiden name on the birth certificate of Henry Howes, the younger, in 1874 - but on her marriage certificate, she appears in her true, legal maiden name - ie. Jane Horsman. Jane was widowed between 1881 and 1891. By 1891 she was still living in Barry's Cottages, Falsgrave with some of her kids, earning her living as a laundress.

This is the family of George - mentioned above as the son of John and Hannah.
Sarah Jane married Edward Watson in Scarborough, and Enos married Sarah Bilham in Scarborough in 1874
Dunno anything about young James - I'm kind of assuming he died young - he isn't there on the 1851 census or any subsequent ones.
It looks like they also had another son, called George, who died in Falsgrave aged 3 in October 1860 as "son of George Horsman, Potter"
Not relevant (as far as I know!)

This lot were in Scarborough by 1851. The full line-up of them then was:
HO 107/2368 486-486v
William (46) Scarborough
Hannah (37) Scarborough
Emma (16) Norton
Margaret (14) Norton
Sarah (12) Scarborough
Fanny (10) Scarborough
Elizabeth (7) Scarborough
Thomas (4) Scarborough
I don't see any connection there - the parents are both from Scarborough and happened to be briefly in Norton when they had Emma and Margaret..

This may be another of them, with the father's name entered in error - such things do happen, as witness Esther Ellen Boyes on IGI compared with her birth certificate. Her date of birth fits in nicely with the others. Of course, she could simply be someone entirely different.

The 1879 George was born in York and was a Railway Guard. His wife's maiden name was probably Bethiah Stubbs (though no guarantee on that one.) No connection that I am aware of.
